AGM report of The Independent Investment Trust – March 13, 2018
The Independent Investment Trust (IIT), as its name implies is not your ordinary run-of-the mill investment trust. It was set up 18 years ago by Max Ward, as a sort of ‘retirement project’ after he stepped down as a long-time partner of Edinburgh fund managers Baillie Gifford, where he had managed its flagship Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust for more than a decade.
The AGM, held at Baillie Gifford’s headquarters a few minutes walk from Edinburgh’s Waverley station, started at the sensible time of 4.30pm, giving shareholders from faraway places plenty of time to get there.
