This morning (9th March) my stock market portfolio was a sea of red – down 5.6% at the time of writing at 9.30 am. Not only have most shares fallen, but spreads have widened so it’s not even easy to pick up those shares that are now undervalued at a fair price. Abcam (ABC) published their Interim Results this morning (4/3/2019). The share price promptly dropped 20% although it has recovered half of that at the time of writing. Persimmon (PSN) issued an announcement this morning saying that CEO Jeff Fairburn was stepping down at the request of the company because “the Board believes that the distraction around his remuneration from the 2012 LTIP scheme continues to have a negative impact on the reputation of the business and consequently on Jeff’s ability to continue in his role”. High pound impacts Croda, Abcam and others

Today Croda issued their interim results for the six months to the end of June. Croda is a speciality chemicals company and less than 10% of its revenue arises in the UK. A very substantial proportion comes from the USA and from other dollar denominated sales elsewhere. Yesterday I attended the Annual General Meeting of Abcam Plc at their office in Cambridge. 15 ordinary shareholders were present at the AGM along with the board (minus non-exec Mara Aspenall who was in the USA) and usual hangers on.

Today I attended the Annual General Meeting of Abcam Plc (ABC) at their office in Cambridge. 15 ordinary shareholders were present at the AGM (including myself and Sharesoc’s Roger Lawson), with all board members and some non-execs present as well.
Some financial highlights of Abcam Plc’s results this year are as follows: Total revenue increased by 17% to £159m, gross margin was flat at 70%, cash increased to £71m (from £59m) and the full year dividend was up by 8.5% to 8.91p.

I attended the Annual General Meeting of Abcam yesterday (3/11/2014) at their offices in Cambridge. Abcam primarily sells antibodies via the internet to research scientists worldwide. They are one of the more successful AIM companies, with consistent profitability, good growth and good cash flow.
