This year’s Albion Technical & General VCT AGM was held on Tuesday 4th June 2019 at 11:00hrs at the City of London Club in Old Broad Street, conveniently located between Liverpool Street and Bank stations – the same venue as the two recent Kings Arms Yard VCT and Albion Development VCT AGMs from the same Albion stable. As previously reported, this is the final year that these AGMs were held there due to forthcoming redevelopment of the venue, with future ones ...

Kings Arms Yard VCT (KAY) AGM Report

This year’s Kings Arms Yard VCT AGM was held on Monday (May 21st 2019) starting at 11.00. The venue was the same as the previous eight AGMs since Albion took over as manager in 2011: The City of London Club, 19 Broad Street, London, EC2N 1DS. GoCo (GOCO) AGM Report

Yesterday (23rd May) I attended the Annual General Meeting of GoCompare.com Group (GOCO) which was actually renamed GoCo Group at the meeting. This was held in the City of London at 3.00 pm but even so there were still very few ordinary shareholders present – less than ten I would guess. The company’s main business is a price comparison web service, particularly focused on car insurance, but also covering utilities and other products. It is of course fronted by Italian opera singer ...

Accesso Technology (ACSO) AGM Report

I attended the Annual General Meeting of Accesso Technology (ACSO) this morning (21st May) at their offices west of London. With a 10.00 am start time there were only about ten ordinary shareholders there. This company provides ticketing and queuing systems for theme parks and other visitor attractions. It had a great share price performance under the management of former CEO and then Executive Chairman Tom Burnet (who is still on the board as a non-exec director) until October 2018 when the ...

Hammerson Plc (HMSO) AGM Report

In contrast to a previous AGM I attended, this AGM was conducted in a sensible way, with all the presentations made and shareholders questions answered before the vote was held by way of a ballot. The board pre-empted a minor shareholder rebellion against the Directors’ Remuneration report and the authority to allot additional shares in terms of section 551 of the companies act, by communicating this to the shareholders present and explaining that the remuneration is in line with the triennial ...

Rights and Issues Investment Trust (RIII) AGM Report

Rights and Issues Investment Trust (RIII),  a 177m pounds investment trust, has been managed by Simon Knott for the last 35 years and has clocked up an impressive long term performance outshining many of the small cap trusts run by bigger competitors, such as  Aberforth, Henderson, Blackrock and  Standard Life. The trust’s minimalist annual report, which runs to just 47 pages and contains none of the glossy photographs that often grace reports of bigger trusts, gives little away about the secrets of ...

Independent Investment Trust (IIT) AGM Report

AGM report of The Independent Investment Trust - March 13, 2018 The Independent Investment Trust (IIT), as its name implies is not your ordinary run-of-the mill investment trust. It was set up 18 years ago by Max Ward, as a sort of ‘retirement project’ after he stepped down as a long-time partner of Edinburgh fund managers Baillie Gifford, where he had managed its flagship Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust for more than a decade. The AGM, held at Baillie Gifford’s headquarters a few minutes ...
