SIGnet is a national network of individual investor groups in the UK. Groups meet on a regular basis (in-person or online), typically monthly, to give individual investors the opportunity to socialise, discuss, and learn from each other. The main goal is to improve members’ knowledge and investment decision-making processes through free discussion and mutual education. We are launching a new in-person group for those who are interested in trading Options and able to meet in London
An online meeting has been arranged to launch the group and this will take place at 6:30pm on Monday 3rd November 2025.
David E, an experienced Options trader, will lead the group.
After running a recording studio in Africa in the early 1990s, David returned to the UK and discovered Options trading through an advert in Exchange and Mart. He began part-time and has traded full-time since 2003.
David believes Options can generate consistent profits and is passionate about helping others learn. He shares insights through his educational blog.
What are Options?
Options, in simple terms, can be thought of as a form of financial insurance — but with a twist.
Imagine you’re a homeowner: you pay for insurance to protect against unlikely events like fire or theft. Most of the time, you don’t need to use it, but the insurance company still collects your premium. In the world of options, you can be the insurance company — collecting premiums by selling options on assets, betting that certain events (like big price moves) won’t happen. And vice versa, you can buy options to protect against those moves.
We focus on trading options on the FTSE 100 to keep things simple and accessible. With the right strategy, it’s possible to generate consistent returns — sometimes 1–2% per month — whether the market goes up or down. But that’s just the beginning.
Options are traded on a wide range of assets: stocks, commodities, interest rates, even the weather. They’re powerful tools for both hedging risk and generating income, but they also carry significant risks if not used carefully.
This new group will provide a forum for experienced Options Traders to discuss and improve; and beginners are welcome to join the group to learn.
The time, frequency and location of meetings will be discussed during the launch meeting.
The launch meeting is open to anyone. If not already a member, you will need to join SIGnet to attend subsequent meetings.
Places in the new group are limited. Priority goes to members who register for SIGnet within 5 days of the launch meeting and aren’t in other groups. Remaining spots will be given to SIGnet/Premium members on a first-come, first-served basis*. If the group is full, we’ll add you to a waiting list and may start another group if a volunteer Convener is available.

Once you have registered you will receive an email notification, as well a reminder 1 day before the meeting starts. The email includes a link to add a calendar reminder for the meeting. We recommend that you use this.
*SIGnet members can join up to two groups if there are vacancies. Priority is given to those who haven’t reached their limit. To join more than two groups, please email your request to info@sharesoc.org for the Head of SIGnet’s attention.
