Lifting the Lid on the FRC, 5 November 2019

Once again, the FRC is holding its annual update event for private investors. This year it will take place on Tuesday, 5th November from 1.30pm to 5.00pm. As in previous years, the venue will be the FRC’s offices at 125 London Wall.

This promises to be a very interesting afternoon, including an address from Jon Thompson, the new CEO of the FRC, on his vision, strategy and priorities for the future.

  1. Welcome and Introduction to the afternoon – Jen Sisson, Chief of Staff, FRC
  2. Sir Jon Thompson: New FRC CEO
    Sir Jon to give an introduction to his views on the FRC and his priorities coming into his new role.
  3. David Rule: Executive Director of Supervision
    Along with Carol Page, Director of CRR and Andrew Meek, Director of AQR, David will give an overview of the FRC’s supervision activities and take questions.  David is particularly interested to hear from UKSA and ShareSoc members about specific industries or areas of accounting and auditing where they have concerns about quality.
  4. Mark Babington: Director of Audit Policy and Competition
    Mark will explain the changes made by the FRC to the Auditing and Ethical Standards and the changes to the standards on Going Concern.
  5. David Styles: Director of Governance and Stewardship
    David will explain the upcoming changes to the UK stewardship Code and discuss what we have been seeing in early implementation of the new UK Corporate Governance Code.
  6. Wrap up and close: Jen Sisson, Chief of Staff, FRC
